William Powers, 76, of Port Clinton, died Sunday, September 19, 2010 at his home in Fremont after a long fight with cancer. He was born August 7, 1934 in Berwin, IL the son of the late Louis and Francis (Riggi) Powers. He married Anne Richards on Dec. 8, 1956 and she preceded him in death in April of 2001. Mr. Powers was a sales executive for Michelin Tire Co. retiring in the 1980's. He loved to camp on the Mohican River and will be missed by his friends at Arrow Point. Mr. Powers was a Korean War Veteran serving in the United States Air Force. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Port Clinton, American Legion in Nevada and the Port Clinton V.F.W. Post. Surviving are his son: Mark (Sherri) Powers of Fremont; daughters: Susan Westfall of Port Clinton, Bonnie Monolakes of New York, Julie Powers of Nevada; 10 grandchildren; three step-grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren with one on the way. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife: Anne, sister: Lucille Tokrez and companion Huldah "Cookie" Cook. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated by Father John Misler at 10:00 am Thursday, September 23, 2010 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Port Clinton. Memorial contributions may be given to Stein Hospice, 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, OH. The family would like to thank Stein Hospice for their wonderful care and concern.
