William L. "Bill" Shaffer

William L. "Bill" Shaffer, 81 of Elmore, OH died suddenly Thursday, October 18, 2018 at his home. He was born February 19, 1937 in New Washington, OH to the late Adam B. and Olive L. (Redman) Shaffer. He was a 1955 graduate of Harris- Elmore High School. Even though he was recruted by many colleges for his football skills, he ultimately decided to enlist in the United States Navy from 1955 - 1959. Bill worked at Sun Oil Refinery in Toledo, OH for 33 years retiring in 1998 as a Welder/Boilermaker. He was an avid bowler, enjoyed golfing, spent time as a volunteer firefighter for the Village of Elmore, and coached his daughters softball team. Bill loved his family, and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, who were the lights of his life. On February 13, 1981 he married the former Lynne Rex and she survives. Also surviving are his daughters: Julianne (Armando) Bejarano of Pemberville, OH and Jennifer (Daniel) Weirich of Woodville, OH; son Timothy Shaffer of Toledo, OH; step- son Christopher (Robin) Crozier of Elmore, OH; grandchildren: Braden & Carmen Bejarano and Jordan & Casey Williams; step- grandchildren: Jason & Kelly Crozier; step- great- grandchildren Maddie and brother Tom (Connie) Shaffer of California. At this time there will be no services for Bill as cremation has taken place by the Crosser Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Elmore- Genoa Chapel.
