William H Covey, 81, of Danbury, Ohio passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Monday, October 15, 2018 at Otterbein North Shore Retirement Center in Lakeside, Ohio. He was born on December 12, 1936 in Bradford, Pennsylvania, the son of Eugene and Laura (Camp) Covey. On August 26, 1961, he married Carole Mahler and she preceded him in death on August 24, 2017. William was a veteran of the United States Army stationed at Fort Rucker, Alabama from June of 1960 to June of 1962. He worked as a mechanic at the US Gypsum Plant from 1972 until his retirement in 1999. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Danbury Township. Many of his favorite pastimes included fishing, hunting, bowling, and playing cards, especially pinochle. Survivors include his daughters, Shelley (Matt) Seamon and Kelley (Joe) Sotak, of Danbury Twp.; son, Eugene (Shawn) Covey, Port Clinton; grandchildren, Tiffany (Sadab "Bob") Rana, Matthew Seamon, Gavin and Jase Covey; sister, Ruth (Ralph, deceased) Potter, New York; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, his brothers, Robert Covey and George (Emma) Covey, and sister, Betty Covey. Visitation will be held at the Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, Peninsula Chapel, 7755 E. Harbor Road, Lakeside-Marblehead, on Sunday, October 21, 2018 from 1pm until a celebration of life service at 4pm with Pastor Christina Young officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Ottawa County, 2424 Sand Road, Port Clinton, Ohio 43452 or to ProMedica Hospice, 430 S. Main Street, Clyde, Ohio 43410.
