William (Bill) E. Lehner, 76, of Catawba Island and formerly of Worthington, OH, passed away on Sunday, December 22, 2024.
Born on June 8, 1948, in Columbus, OH, he was the son of William J. and Betty J. Lehner.
Bill is survived by his wife Karen of 54 years, Brother Brian (Debbie) Lehner, sister Barbara (Kevin) Pyle, and children Allison Rish, Molly (Scott) Rieman, and W. Matt (Jessie) Lehner. Bill was also a devoted grandfather to seven grandchildren: Noah, Rhyan, Reagan, Will, Charlotte, Meadow, and W. Henry, all of whom brought him immense pride and joy. He cherished the moments with his wife, children, and grandchildren.
A dedicated architect, with a lifelong passion for building and design, Bill ran his own firm, William E. Lehner AIA. He was a proud member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marblehead, OH. He was a licensed captain for the Lorain County Port Authority. Bill enjoyed spending time on the water, sailing with his family and friends throughout the Great Lakes, Cuba and Greece. He passed down his love for the water and boating to his children and grandchildren.
Bill was committed to serving others. He was an active member in several organizations, including Worthington AM Rotary, serving as President and visiting Haiti to install wells for clean drinking water. He also participated in the US Sail and Power Squadron, serving as a past District Commander, the Knights of Columbus, and the Great Lakes Cruising Club serving as a Port Captain.
In addition to his wife, children, and grandchildren, Bill is survived by countless friends and colleagues whose lives he touched with his kindness, wisdom, generosity and passion for service.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 3 from 2-5pm at Scioto Reserve Country Club, Powell, OH. In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Heifer International.
