William D. Edge

William D. Edge, 59, of Oak Harbor, OH died Friday, October 28, 2016 at The Cleveland Clinic. Bill was born June 30, 1957 in Toledo, OH the son of the late William R. and Lois (Elliott) Edge. He graduated from Whitmer High School in 1975 where he was taught by his future father-in-law. He married Becky Hamann on July 16, 1977. Bills was a mechanic by trade and he worked with his father-in-law at Denny's Gulf Service in Oak Harbor and then became his partner at Denny and Bill's. After Denny's retirement Bill continued the business as Bill's Auto & Towing. In 2013 he was awarded "Towman of the Year" by the American Towman Association. Bill was a member of St. John Ev. Lutheran Church, Oak Harbor where he previously served on council and as President of the Congregation. He served on Oak Harbor Village Council in the 1990's and he was a member of Portage Fire District since 1981. Currently he was the President of Portage Fire District. He enjoyed camping, boating, traveling, doing handyman jobs and eating. His greatest love was spending time with his family. Surviving are his wife: Becky; children: Chelle (James) Blausey of Oak Harbor, Bill (Amie Elarton) Edge of Oak Harbor, Julie (Mario) Nolfi of Mentor, OH, Alex Edge of Oak Harbor; grandchildren: Brystol, Loudyn and Carter Edge, Claire and Beckett Blausey, and Eleanor Nolfi; brother: James (Laura) Edge of Toledo; sister: Jill (Steve) Cooke of Culpepper, VA and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents: William and Lois Edge; sister: Susan Edge and father-in-law: Denny Hamann. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 am Wednesday, November 2, 2016 at St. John Ev. Lutheran Church, Oak Harbor, OH. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 2:00 8:00 pm at Crosser Funeral Home, 301 N. Locust St. Oak Harbor, OH. Interment will be in Salem Township Union Cemetery, Oak Harbor.
