Wayne J Lampi

Wayne J. Lampi, 73, of Marblehead, Ohio died Friday, March 13, 2009 at Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky, Ohio. He was born on October 31, 1935 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of the late Waino and Ann Lampi. He was formerly married to Janet Joy Lampi, and she preceded him in death on March 16, 1986. He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served his country during the Korean War. Wayne was a manufacturing engineer and consultant, having retired in the early 1990's. He was a past member of the Sandusky Sailing Club, as he loved boating and being out on the lake, which led him to his hobby of restoring and building boats. He was also an avid sports fan. Survivors include his life partner and best friend: Suzanne Hembly, of Marblehead, OH; children: Marvin (Frances) Lampi, of Waverly, OH; Sharon Lampi, of Parma, OH; and David (Ginger) Lampi, of Tampa, FL; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and many cousins. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 17, from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, 7755 E. Harbor Road, Lakeside-Marblehead, Peninsula Chapel, where prayer services will be held at 8:30 PM by Reverend Christina L. Young. Burial and graveside services will take place on Wednesday, March 18 at 12:30 PM at St. John Cemetery, Mount Vernon, Ohio. Memorial contributions may be made to Stein Hospice or to the Donor's Choice.
