Warren H. Gulau

Warren H. Gulau, 86, of Port Clinton, Ohio, died Sunday at his home. He was born in Port Clinton on May 22, 1921, the son of the late William & Mary (Hanske) Gulau. Mr. Gulau was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, serving with the SeeBees in the Phillipines. He was a devoted husband to his wife, the former Betty Jane Knachel, whom he married on May 17, 1942. She preceded him in death on March 2, 1996. Mr. Gulau was an employee of the former Port Clinton Lumber for over 45 years, working in many different capacities. He was also a carpenter, and farmed his family’s farm. In later years, he was a driver for the former Courtesy Auto World, Port Clinton. Mr. Gulau was a member of St. Johns Evangelical Lutheran Church, Oak Harbor. He was also a member of Moose Lodge #1610, and Eagles Lodge Aerie #2295, both of Port Clinton. Mr. Gulau was an enthusiastic card player, and enjoyed being outdoors. He is survived by his son, Larry (Bev) Gulau, Oak Harbor; daughters, Linda (Richard) Fouts, Grayling, MI, and Becky (Lee) Witt, Oak Harbor; sister, Blanche Kohli, Oak Harbor; grandchildren, Bryan Witt, Pamela (Joe) Vidal, Kevin (Kim) Witt, Tracy (Nicole) Witt, Tim (Amy) Baldwin, Megan Gulau, and Jared Gulau; great-grandchildren, Emma & Dominick Vidal, and Logan, Keegan, and Gavin Witt. Friends are welcome to call from 2-9 P.M. Wednesday at the Crosser Funeral Home, Oak Harbor, where funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday. The Rev. Keith Hunsinger will officiate, and interment will be in LaCarpe Cemetery, Erie Township. Memorial contributions may be made to the Maintenance Fund of St. Johns Ev.
