Wanda C. Smith, 83, of Oak Harbor, OH, died Saturday, July 28, 2007 at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, Toledo, OH. She was born in Glenwood, Iowa on August 2, 1923, a daughter of the late Rex & Mildred “Middy” Booth. During World War II, she worked in aircraft manufacturing at the Lockheed Corporation in Los Angeles, CA. On March 27, 1945, Wanda married Wayland D. “Stretch” Smith in Hutchinson, KS, and he preceded her in death on July 9, 2006. Wanda was an enthusiastic baseball fan, which stemmed from her family’s involvement in and ownership of several minor league baseball teams in the Midwest. She was a longtime fan of the San Francisco Giants, and especially Barry Bonds. Wanda is survived by her children, Jeff (Debbie) Smith, Oak Harbor and Sandra K. Davidson, Gresham, OR; sister, Dette (Don) Norstrom, Sun City, AZ; grandchildren, Kevin Smith, Tyson (Melanie) Smith, and Shane (Lane) Smith; and her great-granddaughter, Madison Grace Smith. Wanda was preceded in death by her grandchildren, Steffani Davidson and Jacob Smith; sister, Doralene Zamecnik; brother, Jack Stucker, and son-in-law, Dell Davidson. The family will receive friends from 6-8 P.M. Wednesday at the Crosser Funeral Home, Oak Harbor. Graveside services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Thursday at Union Cemetery, Oak Harbor, with Pastor Steve Fish of the Oak Harbor United Brethren Church officiating.
