Walter N. "Bunny" Holmes, Jr.

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our loved one Walter N. "Bunny" Holmes, Jr., 61, of Marblehead, OH., who passed away February 28, 2021 at Magruder Hospital after a lengthy battle with cancer. He was born November 29, 1959 in Sandusky, OH to Walter "Preach " Holmes and the late Mildred "Polly" (Bishop) Minton Holmes, Sr. Bunny was a member of the Boiler Maker Union Local 85 of Toledo, Ohio. He was a Journeyman and traveled with his welding skills. He also worked for City Auto Radiator as a welder for a number of years. Bunny is survived by his father Walter N. Holmes Sr. Also surviving are his Daughter: Jody Santiago of Fremont, OH. Grandchildren: Austin Geiss, Jeffrey Goehring, Adriana Cogar, Aleia Santiago. Siblings: Allen (Kim) Minton of Marblehead, Harold "Bub"(Tammy) Minton of Marblehead, Mary (Gary) "Wayne" Ball of Marblehead, Connie (Mike) Brooks of Marblehead, Marie (Philip) Berry of Marblehead, Roy "Doug" Holmes of Marblehead, Linda (Steve) Brooks of Marblehead, & Johnny Barker of Sandusky. He was preceded in death by his Mother Mildred "Polly" (Bishop) Minton Holmes and his brother Jeff Holmes. Also preceded in death by his Paternal Grandparents; Newton R." Bud" Holmes & Frankie E. (Bledsoe) Holmes. Maternal Grandparents; Fonzi "Bud' Bishop & Grace M. (McGhee) Bishop. He had many Nieces and Nephews. Bunny loved to fish and hunt he loved guns and animals and was an excellent marksman. He was an avid gardener and a great cook. He had a heart of gold and enjoyed helping people. He also loved playing his guitar and singing a variety of music. Country, Gospel and Bluegrass was among his favorites. Bunny was often quoting scripture from the King James Bible. One of his most often quoted verses was Jeremiah 33:3 "Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not." Bunny will be greatly missed by all who loved him. The great Psalmist wrote in Psalms 23. "The Lord is my Shepard". We as a family truly believe this, and that our great God restores our soul. He leads us beside still waters and goodness and mercy shall follow us all the days of our lives and we shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever. A celebration of life will be held Saturday, March 20, 2021 at Neidecker, Crosser & Priesman Funeral Home Peninsula Chapel, 7755 E. Harbor Rd. Lakeside-Marblehead, OH. Visitation will be at 11:00 am and a ceremony at 1:00pm. Reverend Charles Marcum of Lorain, Ohio will be officiating. Memorial contributions may be given to the donor's choice.
