Vivian “Viv” A. Schimmoeller, 71 of Oak Harbor, OH passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 17, 2023 surrounded by family, after bravely battling cancer, at ProMedica Bay Park Hospital, Oregon, OH. She was a 1970 graduate of Ottoville High School and attended Beauty School to become a licensed Beautician. On June 17, 1972 she married Robert Schimmoeller, and he survives.
Viv was a homemaker, but also retired from Riverview Industries in Oak Harbor as their Program Coordinator. She also made time to visit her clients at Luther Home of Mercy in Williston. She was an active member of St. Boniface Catholic Church, Oak Harbor where she served on numerous committee’s including the Rosary Altar Society and was the director of CCD Classes. As a changing of the guards, she became the contact person for bereavement luncheons for the Church, a job she loved to do. She would always be the first to arrive and the last to leave. She volunteered countless hours at St. Boniface church and school, and served as the Oak Harbor Athletic Booster’s concessions coordinator for many years. She was passionate about watching her grandchildren play sports, baking (always had cookies in the freezer), her flowers at home, the Mary garden at church, she loved watching the birds out her window and the eagles at Magee Marsh where she also volunteered in the gift shop, and she loved visiting the Marblehead Lighthouse.
