Virginia "Timmie" L. Behnke

Virginia L. "Timmie" Behnke, 82 of Oak Harbor, OH died Thursday, September 30, 2010 at Physician's Choice Hospital, Fremont, OH. She was born June 26, 1928 in Fremont, OH to the late Wilmer and Mayme (Hoffman) Timmons and married Willis J. Behnke on December 9, 1950 who preceded her in death January 6, 1984. She graduated from Fremont Ross High School in 1946. She worked in the budget office at Erie Army Depot until it closed, and then the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, Ottawa National Wildlife Refuge, where she retired. She was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ, Oak Harbor. She was also a member of Fremont Chapter 133 Order of the Eastern Star, inactive member of Sigma Alpha Sorority and member of Buckeye State Sherriff's' Association Associate Member. Surviving is son Michael J. (Sarah) Behnke of Oak Harbor; grandchildren: Jennifer, Joshua (Katelyn), and Jason Behnke, sisters: Rosalyn McCawley of Oregon, OH and Beatrice (Bill) Parker of Tiffin, OH; brother John Timmons of Port Clinton, OH and many nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by sisters: Betty Moran, Norma Ross, Marian Heppner, and Nancy Phillips and brothers: Homer, Robert, and Donald Timmons. Graveside Services will be held at 11am Monday, October 4, 2010 at Salem Township Union Cemetery, Oak Harbor where interment will follow. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions should be given to FFA Chapter of the Oak Harbor High School, Mid County E.M.S., or Carroll Township Fire Department.
