Virginia Cecilia Sherman, 89 of Hallandale Beach, Florida, and formerly of Oak Harbor, Ohio, died July 7, 2010 at Seaside Retirement Resort, after an extended illness. Mrs. Sherman was a life long resident of Oak Harbor, known and loved by many. She spent her twilight years with her son and her sister in Florida. Virginia was very active in the Oak Harbor community. She was a member of the Oak Harbor Literary and Social Club and Republican Ladies Club. She was very actively involved with St. Boniface Church and School, serving on various committees and the Church Councel. Virginia was a secretary at the former Erie Army Depot, where she met her husband, Vaughn. She was much appreciated for her work as secretary at St. Boniface School, while her son was attending, and many years of service at the Oak Harbor United Methodist Church, along with being devoted single parent to her son--the light of her life. Mrs. Sherman is survived by her loving son, Monte and her 94 year old sister, Agnes Meyer, both of Hallandale Beach, Florida She was preceded in death by her parents, Anthony and Sophia Schibilla, brother, Seraphine Schibilla, and her husband, Vaughn Sherman. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday at St. Boniface Church, with interment following in Union Cemetery, Oak Harbor. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: St. Boniface Church Renovation fund.
