Violet "Vi" Payne Behrman, 97, went to be with her Lord on Saturday, March 30, 2013 at Riverview Healthcare Campus in Oak Harbor, Ohio. She was a lifelong resident of Port Clinton. Violet was born on December 24, 1915 in Port Clinton, the daughter of Riley Harold and Emma (Miller) Payne. She, and her younger brother, Orville, were reared by her paternal grandparents, Dennis and Delpha Payne after both of her parents passed away when she was five years old. Vi worked at various jobs throughout her life including: Woolworth Five and Dime, Erie Ordinance Depot, Ottawa County Court House, and for dentists, Dr. Ralph Roose and Dr. D.A. Hablitzel. She and her husband, Webb, opened Webb's Ice Cream store in 1950, and three years later in 1953 they started Webb's Barn, a used clothing and furniture store. It was in this business that she became known to almost everyone, rich and poor alike, within a hundred miles from Port Clinton. Violet was a strong Christian with an unshakable love for God. She was a former member of Trinity United Methodist Church and a current member of Erie Shores Assembly of God Church. She is thought to be the last surviving member of the Port Clinton High School Class of 1933. Vi was preceded in death by her parents, her grandparents, her husband, Webb, and her brother, Orville Payne. She is survived by her sons and daughter-in-law: Dennis and Jane Behrman of Oak Harbor, Washington; Webb Behrman of Kirkland, Washington and Tracy Behrman of Wauseon, Ohio; grandchildren: Jeffrey, Bradley, Christopher, Melinda, Matthew, Adam, and Amy; six great-grandchildren; and six nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 6-8 on Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at the Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, 1124 Fulton Street, Port Clinton. Funeral Services will be held at 11am on Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at the funeral home, with Pastor Harry Hunt officiating. Burial will follow at Lakeview Cemetery in Port Clinton. In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested remembrances in Violet's name to Erie Shores Assembly of God Church, or to Stein Hospice.
