Violet Fox

Violet Fox, 75, of Oak Harbor, Ohio, died Monday, July 28, 2014 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg, Ohio. She was born on January 11, 1939 in Belfast, Northern Ireland, a daughter of James & Sarah (Bamford) McKinnell. Violet came to the United States when she was just 19 years of age, seeking a better life. A member of the Fred Astaire Dance Teacher's Association, and an active member of the Oak Harbor community, Violet founded the Class A Studio of Dance in 1985. She retired in 2012 after sharing her gifts with countless students. She personified the word "teacher" in both her professional and family life. Violet married Paul A. Fox in 1966, and he preceded her in death on December 12, 2008. She is survived by her children, Larry Fox, Toledo, Ohio, Billy (Betty) Fox, Burbank, California, Paula (Rick) Fox Ferguson, and Henry "Hank" (Michelle) Fox, Oak Harbor; grandchildren, Paul Henry Fox, Alex Fox, Nicole Fox-Stone, McKinnell Ferguson, Sylvia Ferguson, Sophia Ferguson, Reece Taylor, Mikol Stams, Olivia Thompson, and Nathan Thompson. She is also survived by 8 great-grandchildren. Violet was preceded in death by her husband, Paul; grandson, "Lil" Billy Fox; her parents; brothers, Jack, Reggie, Jim, and Dennis McKinnell; and sisters, Lily, Ruby, Sylvia, Minnie, Alice, and Sarah. Friends may call from 2-9 P.M. Thursday at Crosser Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Oak Harbor, where the family will be present from 2-5 & 6-9 P.M. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Friday at the funeral home, with a luncheon following at 20th Century Lanes, Oak Harbor. Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
