Velma R. Velliquette

Velma R. Velliquette, 93, of Oak Harbor, OH, died Saturday, March 12, 2016 at her home. She was born in Limestone, OH on December 5, 1922, a daughter of Emil & Bertha S. (Carsten) Myerholtz. Velma attended schools in Limestone, Rocky Ridge, and Oak Harbor, and was an active lifelong member of St. John Lutheran Church, Rocky Ridge. On December 5, 1940, she married Reuben A. Kaiser, and he preceded her in death on February 12, 1960. She married Dale C. Velliquette on October 10, 1965, and he preceded her on December 26, 1983. Velma worked at the former Kaiser Meat Market, Elmore, OH, Erie Army Depot, Port Clinton, Dick Wilson's Restaurant, Oak Harbor, The Ayling & Reichert Co., Oak Harbor, and retired from the former Standard Products Co., Port Clinton, in 1972. Velma loved to travel, and visited all 50 states and several countries in Europe. She enjoyed taking pictures and sharing them with family and friends, but she was especially fond of spending time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great granddaughter, who played an important part in her life. She is survived by her son, Robert R. Kaiser, Port Clinton; Carol Martin, Oak Harbor; Lois A. (Roger) Velliquette, Oak Harbor; step-daughter, Bonnie Fish, Georgetown, NY; half sister, Treva Marcum-Rubsam, Clayton, IN; grandchildren, Tim (Kerry) Velliquette, Dale (Ginger) Velliquette, Greg (Carol Ann) Velliquette, Tricia (Philip) Velliquette-Tate, Andrea (Don) Draper, Shaun (Jodi) Martin, Amy Martin, Philip (Mary) Sebastiano, Jill Sebastiano, Robert R. (Katie) Kaiser, Jr., and Stephanie Kaiser; 19 great-grandchildren, a great-great granddaughter, Sophia; 14 step grandchildren; 12 step great-grandchildren, 2 step great-great grandchildren; and her dog, Sammy. Velma was also preceded in death by her parents; daughters, Linda Carsten and Sharon Sebastiano; brothers, Marvin Myerholtz and Glenn Myerholtz; sister, Dorothy Jensen; granddaughter, Jennifer K. Martin; step-daughter, Judy Buhrow; and friend, William D. St. Clair. The family will receive friends from 2-8 P.M. Wednesday at Crosser Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Oak Harbor. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, March 17, 2016 at St. John Lutheran Church, Rocky Ridge, with Pastor Holli Burkard officiating. Interment will follow at Limestone Cemetery, Limestone, OH. Following the services, a luncheon will be held at the church.
