Tom J. Terry

Tom J. Terry, of Oak Harbor, passed away at home, peacefully in his sleep Sunday, July 23, 2017, at the age of 69. He was born to Jay and Jean Terry on March 7, 1948, in Wayne, W.Va. He grew up as the second of six children in Columbus Ohio. Tom graduated from Central High School in Columbus, in 1966, and joined the Air Force. He married his high school sweetheart and had one daughter, Pamela J. (Terry) Garrett. Tom accomplished more in his life than most people can dream of. He served proudly in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. He graduated from The Ohio State University. He was an airplane pilot, a ship captain, and worked for Sears for 10 years. He owned several businesses - from charter boat captain, to bar and grills, a trucking company, licensed Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and Certified Bondsman. He was a seasoned traveler and had adventures around the world. Tom will be loved and missed by all that were fortunate to have met him. He is survived by his daughter, Pam, and her husband, Rob; grandson, Dalton J. Garrett; siblings, Larry J. (Scrap), Michael, Monecca, and James (Ricky); seven nieces and nephews;10 great-nieces and nephews; his fianc, Shelley Noble and her three children, and five grandchildren. He was predeceased by his mother, father, and brother, David Terry. Tom will be cremated and rest with his family in Columbus. No service will be formally held. There will be a gathering of friends and family Saturday, July 29, at Eagles Nest Lodge, 210 Jefferson Street St., Oak Harbor, to celebrate his life and his accomplishments. The ceremony will start at noon. A reception will follow immediately after the ceremony to reminisce on how Tom has touched everyone's life.
