Thomas J. Schultz, 78 of Elmore, OH died Monday, November 2, 2015 at his home. He was born June 21, 1937 in Toledo, OH to the late Charles and Esther (Rasig) Schultz. He was a graduate of Woodward High School, earned his Associate Degree in Business at the University of Toledo and graduated from the Toledo Police Academy. On June 9, 1956 he married the former Marjorie Smith and she survives. Tom spent almost 50 years in Law Enforcement in Northwest Ohio. He worked for the Lucas County Sheriff, Sylvania Township Police Department, Toledo Metro Parks, Washington Township Police Department, and the Berkey Police Department. During this, he also worked 30 years as an office manager for France Stone in Sylvania Township. Following his retirement he served on the Ottawa County Sheriff Department Reserves, served as Deputy Coroner for Ottawa County, and was the Resource Officer for North Pointe of Ottawa County. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Toledo. He also held memberships in the National Rifle Association, Fraternal Order of Police, Sandusky Gun Club, and the Ohio Coroners Association. Though being away from his family to serve the public, Tom truly enjoyed spending time with his family. Survivors include his wife of 59 years Marjorie of Elmore, children: Thomas (Donna) Schultz of Deltona, FL, Timothy (Laura) Schultz of Luna Pier, MI, Kathy (Floyd) Harrison of Arnold, MO, Paul (Alicia) Schultz of Holland, OH, and Amy (Nathan) Eppink of Woodville, OH; 10 grandchildren; and 17 great- grandchildren. He was preceded in death by brothers Donald and David Schultz and sister Eileen Spain. Visitation will be Friday, November 6, 2015 from 2-8pm at the Crosser Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Elmore-Genoa Chapel. Funeral Services and burial will be held privately at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Tom Schultz Memorial for the Enrichment for Children checks payable to the Ottawa County Juvenile Court.
