Thomas E. Baker

Tom Baker, 76, of Elmore passed away Sunday, February 8, 2009 at his residence. He was born February 21, 1932 in Bellevue, OH to the late Carl and Clara (Ellis) Baker. Tom was one of six children who enjoyed swimming and ice skating on Mill's Pond. Although Tom was a master tradesman in the electrical field, working in Toledo area companies: Owens Illinois, Libbey-Glass, Abbey-Aetna and US Gypsum, he was a jack of all trades. He believed in God, Family, Country and served as a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Luckey, OH and later Grace Lutheran Church, Elmore. He thoroughly enjoyed his retirement with travel and cultivating friendships at home and throughout the states. Tom loved and was loved by his wife Mary Lou Gast in 54 years of marriage. Mary Lou, their children: Gaytha (Robert) Sheroian of Toledo, OH, Wanda Spencer and Mark Baker both of Bowling Green, OH, Debra (Daniel) Hayward of Kernersville, NC, Dana (Warren) Weirich of Jackson, MI and 12 grandchildren, will miss him dearly. He is also survived by his siblings William Baker of Huron, OH, Rita Payne of Mount Airy, NC, Doris Homegardner and Janice Mavros both of Sandusky, OH, and Joyce Mowery of Monroeville, OH. We will remember his sense of humor and treasure his memory throughout our lifetime. Visitation will be Wednesday from 2-4 & 6-8pm at the Crosser Funeral Home, Elmore. Funeral Services will begin at 11am Thursday, February 12, 2009 at Grace Lutheran Church, Elmore with Rev. David Nevergall officiating. Interment will follow at the Harris-Elmore Union Cemetery, followed by a luncheon at the church. Memorial Contributions are directed to Grace Lutheran Church or Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
