Theodore Lamar “Ted” Heiks, 60 of Oak Harbor, OH died Friday, February 4, 2022 at ProMedica Flower Hospital, Sylvania. He was born January 21, 1962 in Columbus, Ohio to Ronald and Judith (Vogt) Heiks. Ted was a 1980 graduate of Fruita Monument High School in Colorado. In 1984, he received his BA in History and Political Science from Western State College of Colorado. He completed an MBA in Entrepreneurship in 1992 and completed an MBA in Marketing in 1993 both from City University, Seattle. He is proceeded in death by his father, Ronald L. Heiks. Survivors include his mother, Judith A. Heiks of Oak Harbor; brothers: Timothy (Natalie Green) Heiks of Rehoboth, DE, and Todd (Deborah) Heiks of Graytown, OH; niece: Deminique (David Steinkirchner) Heiks of Toledo, OH; and nephew: Tyler (Runyu) Heiks of Kennesaw, GA. Ted also had many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Ted was a lifetime academic. Besides his many degrees, he also studied Social Studies with a History Emphasis, Mediaeval History, Biblical Studies, Humanities with History Emphasis and Civil War Studies. He loved reading and his home library consisted of well over two thousand books. He was also the family historian and great at crossword puzzles, sudoku, and trivia. Ted loved his family and community. He liked to frequent the local restaurants for his favorite past-time; singing karaoke. Ted enjoyed getting dressed up for Halloween and played Santa for family over the years. He also adored his two cats. Visitation will be Friday, February 18, 2022 from 2-8pm at the Crosser & Priesman Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Oak Harbor Chapel. Funeral Services will begin at 11am on Saturday, February 19, 2022 at Shoreline Church, Oak Harbor. Burial will be in Salem Township Union Cemetery, Oak Harbor. Memorial Contributions may be made to Ottawa County Humane Society, Habitat for Humanity of Ottawa County and Shoreline Church.
