Terry L. Gentry

Terry L. Gentry, 72, of Port Clinton, Ohio, and formerly of Put-in-Bay, Ohio, died Saturday, April 5, 2014 at Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky, Ohio. He was born in Fostoria, Ohio on June 14, 1941, the son of Myles & Hazel Gentry. Terry was the owner and operator of Gentry Tool & Die, Port Clinton for 54 years. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Port Clinton, and served on the council of the Village of Put-in-Bay for 6 years. Active in Masonic organizations, Terry was a member of Science Lodge #50, F. & A.M., Sandusky; Port Clinton Chapter #267, Order of the Eastern Star; Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Toledo; and Zenobia Shrine, Toledo. He was a three-time Governor of Moose Lodge #1610, Port Clinton, and was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, Aerie #2295, Port Clinton, and Port Clinton Elks Lodge #1718. Terry was also a social member of the Port Clinton V.F.W. Post #2480, and was a former member of the Crew's Nest, Put-in-Bay. Terry enjoyed fishing and was the proud owner of several Lyman boats over the years. On June 26, 1976, he married the former Carol Meyer, and she survives. Also surviving are his step-sons, Chad Smith, Sandusky, Ohio, and Ryan Smith, Columbus, Ohio; his sister, Sharon (Robert) Crickshank, Dover, MA; step-grandchildren, Andrew & Kyle Smith; and his favorite sister-in-law, Debra Meyer, Fremont, Ohio. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, April 8 at Riverview Cemetery, Port Clinton, with the Rev. Bruce Batchelor-Glader officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Stein Hospice, the Humane Society of Ottawa County, or to a charity of the donor's choice.
