Terry C. Wear

Terry C. Wear, 73, of Catawba Island, Ohio died Friday, March 19, 2010 at Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky, Ohio. He was born on May 11, 1936 in Dowagiac, Michigan, the son of Leon Martin and Ann Madeline (Clark) Wear. On March 18, 1961 he married Peggy Adams. At that time Terry was a pilot, flying a Tri Pacer airplane, and he flew Peggy from Springfield, Ohio to Vero Beach, Florida for their honeymoon. He would fly the family to Florida every year at Christmastime. He was a very adventurous man and was not afraid of anything. Terry was the owner/operator of Spragg's Quality Pools in Springfield, Ohio, selling leisure products, having retired in 1992. He and Peggy moved to Catawba Island in 1993. Following retirement, he loved to cook and Bar-B-Que on the grill. He was a member of the Port Clinton Elks Lodge #1718; member of the Gravel Bar Yacht Club in Marblehead; and former member of the Springfield Kiwanis Club. He was an avid fisherman and boater who always had a boat at the marina. He was a very accomplished businessman and father who absolutely loved his family. Survivors include his wife: Peggy; daughters: Jan (Greg) Kurtz and Judy (Chris) Walcott, both of Vermilion, OH; son: Jeff (Michelle) Wear, of Islamorada, FL; grandchildren: Michael Wear, Joey Wear, Kristin Kurtz, Ann Walcott, Samantha Walcott; his mother: Ann, of Stuart, FL; sister: Sharon Wilson, of Salt Lake City, Utah and brother: Duane (Marion) Wear, of Holiday, FL. He was preceded in death by his father. Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 21, 2010 from 11:30 AM until memorial services at 1:30 PM at the Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, 7755 E. Harbor Road, Lakeside-Marblehead, OH. Reverend Dave Brown will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Stein Hospice. Immediately following the service, family and friends are invited to the Catawba Island Club, 4235 E. Beachclub Road, Port Clinton for a bereavement meal and time of fellowship.
