Ted A. Petersen

.Ted A. Petersen passed away peacefully unto the Lord on Monday, July 2, 2018. Ted was the twin son of Wilbur and Dolores Petersen. Ted and his twin brother Ned were born March 2, 1947 in Port Clinton, Ohio. Ned survives. Ted attended Port Clinton Schools graduating in 1965 and was a member of St. John Lutheran Church. On August 29, 1970 Ted married the love of his life, Christina (Tina) nee Floro. Ted and Tina were blessed with one son, Eric, in February 1974. Tina, Eric, and daughter-in-law, Brenda remain to cherish his memory. Upon graduation in 1965, Ted enlisted in the United States Army and spent one year 1968-1969 in the Vietnam conflict. After his service with the military, Ted returned to Port Clinton and resumed his work as a finish carpenter at Matthews Boat Company until its closure in the 1970s. He then became employed with the Ottawa County Engineers Office working at the County Highway garage as a county highway maintenance employee. Ted joined the VFW with Post 2480 where he was an active member for many years and a staunch veteran advocate. He served as District Nine Commander from 1989-1990 receiving many awards and appointments for new membership and his dedication to veterans. He was also an Elk member for 52 years as well as a member of the American Legion Post 113. Ted will sadly be missed by his family and two precious friends- Hildegard, his dog and Mr. Whiskers, the cat. Funeral Services for Ted will be at the Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, 1124 Fulton Street, Port Clinton on Friday, July 6, 2018 at 11 am. Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery with military honors. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, July 5, 2018 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. There will be a VFW service at 7 pm followed by an Elks service at 7:30 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to Stein Hospice, 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, Ohio 44870; Humane Society of Ottawa County, 2424 Sand Road, Port Clinton or to Island Safe Harbor Animal Sanctuary, 3620 E. State Road, Port Clinton.
