It is with great sadness that the family of Susie Mayhew Dick announces her passing on November 3, 2022 in Denton, Texas. Susie was born on September 5, 1944 in Toledo, Ohio and is the daughter of Mildred and Lyle Mayhew. She is the mother of two wonderful daughters, mother-in-law to two outstanding sons-in-law and a grandmother to four delightful grandchildren. She loved her family deeply and was likewise loved by them.
Susie graduated from Port Clinton High School where she was a cheerleader and Homecoming Queen. After high school she attended Ohio University. In 1964, Susie married David Dick. Susie and Dave were high school sweethearts and had a 58 year loving relationship. She later became an elementary school teacher and also was the owner and operator of The Wooden Spoon Kitchen Utensil Shop. She was very involved in the breeding, training and showing of world championship miniature horses.
She leaves behind her husband, Dave of Denton, Texas, daughters Lesa Joy Plett (Brian) of Little Elm, Texas and Julie Lynn Cordes (Tony) of Stilwell, Kansas. Granddaughters Emilee and Kaycee Plett, Jamie Cordes and grandson AJ Cordes. She is survived by brothers Wyn (Neccia) Mayhew of Port Clinton, Ohio and Brad (Toni) Mayhew of Brevard, North Carolina. Susie was preceded in death by her parents and younger sister, Becky Pieplow.
Susie was a beautiful soul, devoted to her family and will be missed by all who knew her.
Interment will be at Catawba Island Cemetery, Port Clinton, Ohio 11:00 am on November 16, 2022. Susie has requested that friends and family wear jeans, plaid shirts and western boots if you got ‘em. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to your favorite charity.
