Susan M. Barnes

Susan M. Barnes, 72, of Oak Harbor, OH, died Wednesday, February 3, 2016 at her home after an extended illness. She was born in Toledo, OH on March 22, 1943, a daughter of Ollie & Elsie (Blue) Geisler. She was a member of the Class of 1961 at Rogers High School in Toledo. An accomplished interior designer, Sue was a decorator for many furniture stores including Sears at the former Woodville Mall, the former Samsen Home Furnishings, Genoa, Value City Furniture in Toledo and Cincinnati, OH, Globe Furniture, Cincinnati, and was the manager of White's Fine Furniture, Columbus, OH, from where she retired. While living in the Kansas City area, Sue was an Ethan Allen representative and owned Sue Barnes Interiors in Liberty, MO. Sue was an active member of St. Paul United Church of Christ, Oak Harbor, and was a former member of St. John Lutheran Church, Rocky Ridge, OH, where she was a Luther League advisor for many years. On April 22, 1961, she married Jim Barnes, and he survives. Also surviving are her daughters, Debbie Seeger, Oak Harbor, Sharon Butler, Lewis Center, OH; grandchildren, Elizabeth (David) Kusak, Bowling Green, OH, and Alex (Michelle) Butler, Columbus, OH; brothers, Gerald Reiter, Toledo, John (Cherie) Geisler, Maumee, OH; sister, Jane (Gerald) Sobb, and sister-in-law, Barb Geisler, Erie, MI. She was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, Jim Geisler. Friends may call from 1-8 P.M. Friday at Crosser Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Oak Harbor. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, February 6, 2016 at St. Paul United Church of Christ, 165 Toussaint St., Oak Harbor, where friends may call after 10:00 A.M. Saturday. Rev. David A. Voll will officiate, and interment will be in Salem Township Union Cemetery, Oak Harbor. Following the services, a luncheon will be held at the church.
