Steven Charles Wachtel

Steven Charles Wachtel, 73, of Marblehead, OH and formerly of Ashland, passed away May 6, 2021 at Louis Stokes VA Medical Center, Cleveland, OH. He was born Feb. 20, 1948 in Ashland, OH the son of Willis and Bernice (Russell) Wachtel. He married Cynthia Anderson on May 3, 1969. Steve served in the 101st Airborne of the United States Army in the Vietnam War, receiving a Bronze Star during his service. After dedicating his entire career to the U.S. Postal Service, he retired in 2003 as the Postmaster of the Ashland Post Office. Surviving are his wife: Cynthia; son: Christopher (Jill) Wachtel of Wooster; daughter: Gretchen (Bradley) Dennis of Chicago; grandchildren: Madeline and Carter Elizabeth Wachtel, and Finnegan Dennis and Oliver; sisters: Susan (Michael) Rogers of Florida, Sharon Wachtel of Ashland; mother-in-law: Patricia Anderson of Lakeside. He was preceded in death by his parents and father-in-law: Lloyd Anderson. Private services were held at Neidecker, Crosser & Priesman Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Peninsula Chapel, Lakeside-Marblehead, OH.
