Steve G. Benko passed away on July 6, 2014. He was born on June 3, 1936 in Port Clinton, Ohio. After honorable service with the United States Army, Steve became a master plumber/pipefitter and a successful owner of Benko Plumbing and Heating. He retired from General Motors Corporation in 2000. Steve was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Port Clinton. Steve and Nancy raised their three children in the Port Clinton home that Steve built beginning in 1960. Steve is survived by Nancy, his beloved wife of 50 years, and by their three wonderful children, Debra, Beth (James), and Steve Scott (Lisa Marie). Steve also is survived by his three cherished grandchildren, Ethan, Grant, and Teagan. Also surviving are his sister, Judy Mulligan (Dan) and brother, Andy (Marlene). Steve was preceded in death by his parents John and Mary Benko, his sisters, Helen Grover and Lydia Engbring, and brothers, John and Nicholas Benko. The celebration of Steve's life will begin with calling hours on Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at the Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, 1124 Fulton Street, Port Clinton from 6-8pm. Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at St. John Lutheran Church, 207 Adams Street, Port Clinton at 11am with Pastor Jim Lehman officiating. Burial will follow at Catawba Island Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ottawa County Community Foundation, Inc. Benko memorial scholarship fund, P.O.
