Stanley E. Harrold

Stanley E. Harrold, 85, of Tiffin, Ohio, and formerly of Port Clinton, Ohio died Tuesday February 23, 2016 at his residence after a brief illness. He was born September 24, 1930, in Boardman, Ohio, to the late Russell and Margaret (Van Kirk) Harrold. After rising to Eagle Scout as a teenager, he served in the U.S. Navy from 1948 to 1952 and was a Korean War veteran. He married Florence M. Woodruff of Barbarton, OH, on May 6, 1951 and she preceded him in death on November 23, 2007. After working for Ford in Bedford, Ohio, MacGregor Golf, and attending college, Stan worked for Standard Products from 1962 to 1992, and lived in Port Clinton from 1962 until 2010. An avid golfer all his adult life, Stan served as secretary of the senior league at Oak Harbor for many years. His avocation, and, ultimately, his vocation, was as a spiritual seeker and pilgrim. Stan is survived by son Scott Harrold of Jacksonville, FL; daughter Laura Smothers of Tampa, FL; sister Shirley Olson of Alexandria, MN; brother Dennis Harrold of Heath, OH; brother Donald of East Palestine, OH; four grandsons; two great granddaughters; and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife, and eldest daughter Sandra, who died in 2009. Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 6-8pm Sunday, February 28, 2016 at the Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, 1124 Fulton St., Port Clinton. Funeral service will be held at 11am on Monday, February 29, 2016 at Erie Shores Assembly of God, 220 South Gill Road, Port Clinton, with Pastor Harry Hunt officiating. Graveside services with military honors will be held on Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at 1pm at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, 10175 Rawiga Road, Rittman, OH.
