Santos A. Silva Jr.

Santos A. Silva Jr., 71, of Oak Harbor, OH died Thursday, August 3, 2023 at his home under Hospice Care. He was born July 30, 1952 in Asherton, TX to Santos A. Sr. and Ernestina (Enriques) Silva.

After moving to Ohio, Santos was raised in East Toledo. He is a 1971 graduate of Waite High School. On March 31, 1973 he married his high school sweetheart Sylvia Shirley Gloria. He moved his family to Oregon, OH in 1980 and planted firm roots in Oak Harbor, OH in 1992. He found great joy in their journey together on this earth. Living on the Portage River it was fitting that she was the moon that lovingly and unselfishly navigated his tides. Together, they had three children, three grandchildren and a lifetime of memories. Santos retired from Sun Oil/Toledo Refinery after a 30 year career as a refinery operator in Oregon, OH. He was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church, Oak Harbor. His favorite past times were gardening, landscaping, cooking, and being on the water.

Surviving are his Children: Leslie (David) Henn, Derek (Katelyn Schlairet) Silva, and Jason Silva. Grandchildren: Jackie Henn, Cecelia Silva, and Silas Silva. Parents: Santos Sr and Ernestina Silva. Siblings: John (Mary) Silva, Mary Ellen (Nena) Silva, Ellie (Scott) Davis, Rose (Gene) Yedica, Margarita Robison, Carol (Dale) Thompson, and Diana Silva. He is preceded in

death by his loving wife Sylvia and his oldest sister Mary Belia Hibbs.

Santos was never the same after losing Sylvia. We find peace knowing they are together again. He will be remembered by many, in many different ways. He and Sylvia touched a lot of lives. For all that have been a part of our family story throughout the years in whatever stage of life he was in, we are forever grateful for your support, grace, and love. A special thank you to his youngest child, Jason Silva who selflessly took the role as full-time caregiver when our mother passed away in 2020. Your love and commitment to him never wavered. You never questioned your decision and did so with such grace, zero complaint, and very little assistance from anyone. He was blessed that you were born with mom's heart and we are forever grateful that you showed him so much love, patience, and compassion in his final years.

Private Graveside Services will be held in Salem Township Union Cemetery, Oak Harbor. Crosser & Priesman Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Oak Harbor is assisting the family with arrangements.
