Samuel V. Ulery, 57, of Sandusky and formerly of Oak Harbor, died Friday, June 27, 2008 at the Cleveland Clinic following a lengthy and courageous battle with Leukemia and a recent bone marrow transplant. He was born July 20, 1950 in Toledo, OH to Jack E. and Lillian (Falkenburg) Ulery. He was a 1968 graduate of Toledo Waite High School. On September 4, 1971 he married the former Laura Failor and she survives. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 8 in Toledo for 39 years retiring in 2007. He co-owned and operated Uncle Tony's Ice Cream Parlor in Sandusky. He was also a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church, Oak Harbor. Sam loved being a grandfather, scooping ice cream, watching a sporting event, and playing cards with his extended family. Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Laura of Sandusky, sons: Samuel E. (Kristen) Ulery of Vermilion, OH, Anthony J. Ulery of Toledo, OH, David J. Ulery of Sandusky; daughters: Gretchen L. (Peter) Mattimore of West Lake, OH, Anne L. (Adam) Carron of Macomb, MI, and Rebecca E. Ulery of Columbus, OH; father Jack of Perrysburg, OH; sister Jacqueline (James) Lennard of Samaria, MI and grandchildren: Michael, Grace, & Patrick Mattimore; Amanda, Abigail, Natalie and Samuel C. Ulery; and Jack Carron. He was preceded in death by his mother. The family will receive friends from 2-8 P.M. Tuesday at the Crosser Funeral Home, Oak Harbor where a Parish Wake Service will be held at 8 P.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 A.M. Wednesday, July 2, 2008 at St. Boniface Catholic Church with the Rev. David Ritchie as Celebrant. Memorial Contributions may be made to: St. Boniface School, St. Boniface Catholic Church Renovation Fund, or Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Northern Ohio.
