Ruth O. Kardatzke

Ruth Orlinda Kardatzke, 92, of Elmore, OH, died Tuesday, January 24, 2006 at Bayshore Commons Assisted Living at Orchard Villa in Oregon, OH. She was born January 15, 1914 in Dacoma, OK to the late Wilbert & Ann (Ford) Bruner. Mrs. Kardatzke was a 1931 graduate of Dacoma High School, and a 1935 graduate of Anderson College. On December 29, 1934, she married Arlin M. Kardatzke and he preceded her in death on February 23, 2004. Mrs. Kardatzke was an elementary school teacher for 17 years, retiring in 1976. She taught at Rocky Ridge, Gibsonburg, and Northwood Schools. Mrs. Kardatzke was a member of the Elmore Church of God, the Civic Mothers Club, Elmore, and various teachers’ associations. She was also an election judge in Elmore. She and her husband traveled to 49 of the 50 states, and also Europe. She also loved to attend the retirees’ dinners at Sun Oil Company, Toledo. She is survived by sons, Merl (Joan) Kardatzke, Elmore, Nyle (Darlene) Kardatzke, Indianapolis, IN, Owen (Barbara) Kardatzke, Montgomery Village, MD, Larry (Norma) Kardatzke, Anderson, IN; daughters, Sharon (Ken) Benefield, Genoa, OH, Annette (Ron) Foudy, Huntington, IN; brother, James Bruner, Kansas; sisters, Ella Lanman, Alaska, Irma Schrader, Kansas; 22 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and several adopted great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by brothers, Evert, Clyde, Earl, Arthur, and Fred Bruner, and sister, Maude Hamon. The family will receive friends from 3-9 P.M. Friday at the Crosser Funeral Home, Elmore. Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M. Saturday, January 28, 2006 at the Elmore Church of God with Rev. Tom Willhardt officiating. Interment will be in Union Cemetery, Elmore. Memorial contributions may be made to the Elmore Church of God Vision Project or to the American Heart Association.
