Ruth M. Knoblauch. 88, of Genoa, Ohio, and formerly of Elmore, Ohio, passed away on her wedding anniversary, Friday, October 25, 2013. She was born in rural Elmore on April 22, 1925, the daughter of Harmon & Clara (Hoffman) Milbrodt. Ruth was a 1943 graduate of the former Harris-Elmore High School, and has been the alumni corresponding secretary for over 30 years. On October 25, 1947, she married Paul R. Knoblauch of Riga, Michigan, and he preceded her in death on August 28, 1958. Ruth was employed by Owens-Illinois after high school and was a teller/bookkeeper for the former Bank of Elmore, Elmore, Ohio. She was a very active member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Elmore, where she was a deacon and served on the church council. Ruth also taught Sunday School, and was a member of the church choir where she served as choir director. A member of the Women's Guild and Honor Workers of the church, Ruth was involved in many other church activities and was a member of the Elmore Christian Women, and was a 4-H advisor for over 15 years. She was a very creative person and enjoyed reading and crossword puzzles. Ruth is survived by her daughters, Diane (Bob) Shaffer, Groveport, Ohio, Eileen Baxter, San Diego, California, and Marcia (John) Galante, Dublin, Ohio; grandsons, Scott (Katie) Shaffer, Johnstown, Ohio, Matthew (Rachelle) Shaffer, Cincinnati, Ohio, Justin (fianc Kristen Riggle) Galante, Columbus, Ohio, and Jeremy Galante, Dublin, Ohio; great-grandchildren, Lucy and Logan Shaffer, Johnstown, Ohio; sisters-in-law, Agnes Knoblauch and Lee Etta Knoblauch, both of Blissfield, Michigan, and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and good friends. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; brother, Willis Milbrodt; brothers-in-law, Earl, Roy, and Harlan Knoblauch; sisters-in-law, Frances Milbrodt and Esther, Arlene, and Jeanne Knoblauch; and nieces, Marilyn Knoblauch Hahn and Janet Knoblauch Fisher. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, January 11, 2014 at St. John's United Church of Christ, 448 Rice Street, Elmore, Ohio. Private interment will take place at Elliston Cemetery, Elliston, Ohio. Ruth's family would like to extend their thanks to the staff of Genoa Care Center and Hospice of Northwest Ohio for the care given their mother.
