Ruth J. Bly

Ruth J. Bly, 93, of Port Clinton, Ohio passed away on Thursday, December 31, 2015 at Stein Hospice Care Center in Sandusky, Ohio. She was born on June 18, 1922 in Port Clinton, the daughter of the late Charles and Emily (Jones) Von Eitzen. She married George Bly on June 21, 1942 and he survives. Ruth worked at the former Standard Products in Port Clinton until she and George started their family. While her children were growing up she became involved in many of their activities such as being a den mother for the cub scouts; a girl scout leader; and a band booster. She enjoyed helping others and also volunteered at the Red Cross Bloodmobiles and at the Election Board. She also loved to cook, bake, and travel. She has traveled all over the world and 49 states except North Dakota. Most importantly, she cherished spending time with her family. She was a member of Faith United Methodist Church in Port Clinton. Survivors include her loving husband of 73 years: George; sons: Richard Bly, Youngstown, Ohio and John (Debbi) Bly, Owings, Maryland; daughter: Georgia (Wayne) Sorensen, Woodbridge, New Jersey; and granddaughter: Stephanie (Chris) Swann. Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 3, 2016 from 3-5pm at the Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, 1124 Fulton Street, Port Clinton. Additional visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday, January 4, 2016 from 10am until Funeral Services at 11am with Pastor Ted Austin officiating.
