Ruth Gulas

Ruth M. Gulas, 71, of Catawba Island, died Saturday, August 8, 2009 at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, Toledo, OH. She was born October 9, 1937 in Reading, PA the daughter of the late Albert W. and Florence (Lacumsky) Rofkar. She married Robert P. Gulas on October 6, 1956 and he survives. Mrs. Gulas was the co-valedictorian of the Port Clinton Class of 1955; she received her teaching degree from BGSU and later received her Master's of Business from BGSU. She received her Doctorate in Law from the University of Toledo where she was on the Law Review. Mrs. Gulas was the Senior Partner at Gulas, Kroeger & Peters, Port Clinton; she previously taught Business at Fremont Jr. Hi and she also previously worked as an Executive Secretary at Erie Army Depot. She was a member of Resurrection Lutheran Church, Catawba Island where she is currently serving as Council President; Ottawa County Bar Association; Ohio Bar Association; Catawba Island Club; Board of Directors at Otterbein Northshore and a past Board Member of Riverview Industries. She enjoyed boating and traveling to Florida and Hilton Head with her husband. Surviving are her husband: Robert; daughter: Cathy M. Gulas of Catawba Island; brother: George (Barbie)Rofkar of Bellingham, WA; sister: Dorothy Slaughter of Asheville, NC; mother-in-law: Emilie Gulas of Lakeside; sister-in-law: Marlene Gulas of Catawba Island; brother-in-law: Bill (Anne) Keesor of Ann Arbor, MI and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 am Thursday, August 13, 2009 at Resurrection Lutheran Church, Catawba Island. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 2:00 4:00 and6:00 8:00 pm at Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, Port Clinton, OH. Burial will be in Catawba Island Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be given to the American Heart Association or Resurrection Lutheran Church.
