Ruth E. Newman

Ruth E. Newman, 95, of Waterville, OH and formerly of Peachtree City, GA, peacefully died Tuesday, November 24, 2020 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Toledo. She was born June 20, 1925 in Cincinnati, OH to the late Fred and Frances (Leesman) Edrich. She was a 1943 graduate of Seton High School in Cincinnati. During her High School years she worked at her family restaurant in Cincinnati. After graduation of high school, she worked for Wright’s Company, in which she met her future husband, Calvin Newman. On June 3,1944 they were married. Calvin preceded her in death on November 30, 2019. Ruth was a homemaker and a member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, Cincinnati. She loved gardening, baking, sewing, reading and just being outside, often walking her dogs. Ruth and Calvin resided in Cincinnati while raising their two daughters. Upon retirement, they moved to Arizona and enjoyed traveling in their air stream to various locales. In 2000, they moved to Peachtree City, GA to be close to their daughter, Barbara. In the last years, Ruth and Cal moved to OH to be near extended family and loved ones for their final days. Ruth loved her family exponentially and will be greatly missed. Survivors include her daughter Barbara (Charles) DeGrisky of Perrysburg, OH; grandchildren: Charissa (Andreas) Keller, Greg (Angela) Laub, Erin (John) Black, Brett (Cassy) Laub, Neil Huber and Denis Huber; 11 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; sister Jane Wassler of Cincinnati and a multitude of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Calvin of 75 years, daughter Vivian Huber, and brothers Fred and James Edrich. Services will be held at a later date and interment will be at Old St. Joseph Cemetery, Cincinnati. Those planning on making a memorial contribution are asked to please consider the Vivian A.
