Ruth E. Gates

Ruth E. Gates, 93, of Oak Harbor, Ohio, died Wednesday evening at Riverview Healthcare Campus, Oak Harbor. She was born on September 11, 1915, a daughter of Adam & Josephine (Bing) Glaser. Ruth was a long time member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Oak Harbor, and the Dorcas Circle of the church. On November 23, 1933, she married Wilbert H. Gates, and he preceded her in death on August 22, 1989. Ruth assisted her husband in the operation of their farm, and she was very happy in her role of "farm wife". She is survived by her son, Alvin (Karren) Gates; grandchildren, Richard (Joyce) Gates, Christina Gates, Charles (Holly) Gates, Melissa (Brian) Gates Conley, and Meredith (Mike) Gates Cook. Also surviving are 9 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her son, Wayne Gates; brothers, Harold and George Glaser; and sisters, Catherine Wainwright, and Laura Dick. Friends are invited to call from 2-8 P.M. Sunday at Crosser Funeral Home, Oak Harbor, where the family will be present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday at the funeral home with Pastor David Tinker officiating. Interment will be in Union Cemetery, Oak Harbor. Memorial contributions may be made to the Make-a-Wish Foundation.
