Rudolph W. “Rudy” Daniels, 88, of Oak Harbor passed away Friday, June 24, 2022. Rudy was born July 1, 1933 in Chicago, IL to Edward and Luella (Scales) Daniels. He lived there until he was 13 years old upon which time he and his family moved to Port Clinton, OH. He attended Port Clinton City Schools and was the Quarterback of the High School Football Team. He joined the U. S. Air Force during the latter part of the Korean War and was stationed in Okinawa, Japan. Following his service to the country he returned to Port Clinton and began working for Conrail where he became the Foreman of a rail maintenance crew. Years before he joined the railroad, Rudy took up a passion for bowling and golf. He spent many years on a bowling league until he was no longer able to bowl because of a knee injury. After that it was all golf all the time, mostly at his favorite course and home away from home, The Oak Harbor Golf Club. He played on just about every golf league available and also helped maintain the golf course. After retiring from the railroad in 1994, Rudy spent the rest of his days enjoying time with family, golfing, and cursing Cleveland Sports Teams along with the Michigan Wolverines. Rudy impacted many lives with his infectious personality and smile and will be sorely missed by the family and friends he left behind. Surviving are his wife Jean A. (Feick) Daniels; children: Luana (Duane) Norman of Port Clinton, Judith (Eric) Daniels-Shields of Stone Mountain, GA, William Daniels of Port Clinton, Jerry Daniels of Indiana, Allen Rickenbaugh of Sandusky, David Rickenbaugh of Oak Harbor, James Rickenbaugh of Sagamore Hills, OH; 15 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; siblings: Joyce (Robert) Rogers of Sandsuky, Jeanette (Carl) Goodman of Chicago, IL, Lorenzo (Emily "Joy") Sherred, Jr. of Port Clinton and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his children: Angela L. Daniels aka Samiyyah Allah, Paul Duncan, Nicole R. Daniels; brothers: Carl J. Daniels, Edward “Sonny” Daniels and Harold Daniels. A celebration of Rudy’s Life will be held Sunday, July 31, 2022 at Oak Harbor Golf Club followed by a gathering at Lakeview Park in Port Clinton. Private interment will take place at Riverview Cemetery, Port Clinton, OH. Memorial contributions may be given to the donor’s choice.
