Ross Barry Kloetzly

Ross Barry Kloetzly, 88, of Lakeside, Ohio passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Friday, January 31, 2014 at Stein Hospice Care Center in Sandusky, Ohio. He was born on June 13, 1925 in Wadsworth Ohio, the son of the late Clarence and Edith (Barry) Kloetzly. On August 17, 1949 he married Jeanette Buckingham and she survives. Ross was a veteran of the United States Navy, proudly serving his country during World War II and the Korean War. He was a graduate of Ohio Northern University in Ada, Ohio where he received his bachelors degree in Pharmacy. He was a pharmacist for many pharmacies throughout his career, as he owned and operated the Belle Center Pharmacy in Belle Center Ohio and also worked at Green's Drug Store in Port Clinton Ohio retiring in 1991. He was a member of Lakeside United Methodist Church in Lakeside, Ohio where he was on the dartball team; part of the Red Bird Mission and member of the Lakeside United Methodist's Mens Club; member of the Belle Center Kiwanis Club; past school board president at Belle Center Local School District; member of the Belle Center United Methodist Church where he served as the Sunday School Superintendent ; and a member of the Sandusky Stroke Club. Ross and Jeanette moved to Lakeside in 1979. He owned and managed the Der Markt Platz grocery store in Lakeside for 5 years. He was also a volunteer at Magruder Hospital in Port Clinton. His hobbies included playing shuffleboard, walking, watching baseball, especially the Cleveland Indians and the Toledo Mud Hens, and he was an avid reader. Survivors include his wife: Jeanette; children: Elaine (Paul LaVoy), Green Valley, Arizona; Christine (Scott) Vermillion, Painesville, Ohio; Tom (Carol) Kloetzly, Macedonia, Ohio; and Mary Ann (Todd) Henley, Marysville, Ohio; grandchildren: Rebecca (Chris) Vermillion Haun, Andrea (Patrick) Chasteen, Bradley (Cara) Kloetzly, Kyle Kloetzly, and Macauley Kloetzly. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant son: Larry. A celebration of his life memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, March 15, 2014 at 11am at Lakeside United Methodist Church, 450 Central Avenue, Lakeside, Ohio 43440 with Pastor Vern Shepherd officiating. Burial and graveside services will be held on Saturday, March 22 at 11am at Woodlawn Cemetery, 200 College Street, Wadsworth, Ohio 44281. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Red Bird Mission in care of the Lakeside United Methodist Church.
