Ronald N. Smith

Ronald Nelson Smith, 79, of Oak Harbor, Ohio, died Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at his home. He was born in Port Clinton, Ohio on January 12, 1936, a son of Amiel Nelson & Dora Pearl (Wightman) Smith. Ron attended Port Clinton schools and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He was a flooring installer for many years with Young's Floor Covering in Port Clinton, and Local #351 of Rossford. A member of St. John Lutheran Church, Rocky Ridge, Ron was also a member of American Legion Post #114, Oak Harbor. A perfectionist in everything he did, he was an accomplished woodworker and was especially proficient in scroll saw work. He loved gardening and square dancing and was well known for his sense of humor. On April 21, 2012, Ron married the former Bette Waits, and she survives. Also surviving is his daughter, Shelley (Danny) King, Mt. Juliet, TN; grandchildren, Brandon Smith, Dustin King, and Dannelle King; and great-grandchildren, Colton and Gabriel. Ron was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Elmer Smith; and sisters, Agnes Below, Ethel Collins, Mary Carter, and Jean Pannell. As per Ron's request, there will be no services. Interment will be in Lakeview Cemetery, Port Clinton.
