Ronald John Hannes, 74, of Marblehead died Wednesday, December 2, 2015 at Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky, OH. He was born April 24, 1941 in Marblehead, the son of John and Mary (Glovinsky) Hannes. Ron attended St. Joseph Catholic School and graduated from Danbury High School in 1959. He received his BA in Education from Bowling Green State University in 1963 and his Masters in Geography from Ball State University in 1966. He taught as a professor of Geography at University of Wisconsin, Grambling University and California State University. He worked various construction jobs and previously worked on freight ships. He returned to Marblehead to assist his mother after his father's death. He worked for the United States Post Office as a letter carrier in Sandusky. He was a lifelong member of St. Mary Byzantine Catholic Church, Marblehead. Surviving are his brother: Gary (Sue) Hannes of Yorba linda, CA; sister: Cheryl (John) McIntyre of Woodbury, NJ; brother: Daryl (Christine) Hannes of Aurora, OH; brother: Reverend David A. Hannes of Flushing, MI and nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held Friday, December 11, 2015 from 8:30 am 10:15 am at St. Mary Byzantine Catholic Church, where Divine Liturgy/Rite of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father David Hannes and Father Bob Kelly, Pastor at 10:30 am Friday. Interment will follow at St. Mary Byzantine Catholic Cemetery, Marblehead. Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Peninsula Chapel, 7755 E. Harbor Rd. LakesideMarblehead, OH is handling the arrangements. The family would like to thank Ron's network of good friends from the Marblehead area for their love and continued help and support.
