Ronald J. Schau, 71, of Port Clinton died Friday, June 12. 2008 at Magruder Hospital, Port Clinton. He was born Sept. 11, 1936 in Fremont, OH the son of the late Harold and Wava (Young) Schau. He married Eilene Johnston on March 17, 1956 and she survives. Mr. Schau was retired from the Ottawa County Maintenance Dept. where he was a truck driver for several years and then became head operator of the Port Clinton Drawbridge. He was a charter member of the Erie Township Vol. Fire Department. Ron and his wife spent winters in Arizona for seven years and he loved to golf, travel and other activities with his family. Surviving are his wife of 52 years; daughters Cheryl Epke and Mitzi Mundt both of Port Clinton; five grandchildren: Jennifer Epke, Jill (Mark) Hunsinger, Nicole Hamann, Jennifer Hamann, Jason (April) Hamann; three great-grandchildren Keegan Hunsinger, Gage and Paige Hamann. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother John Schau. Funeral services will be conducted 10:30 am Saturday, June 14, 2008 at Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, Port Clinton Chapel where visitation will be held Friday from 2:00 4:00 and 7:00 9:00 pm. Burial will be in LaCarpe Cemetery, Lacarne, OH. Memorial contributions may be given to Erie Township Vol. Fire and EMS.
