Ronald D. Pierson

Ronald D. Pierson, 68, of Oak Harbor died Thursday, February 18, 2010 at his home following an extended illness. He was born June 29, 1941 in Port Clinton, OH to the late Homer and Elsie (Hansen) Pierson. He was a 1959 graduate of Oak Harbor High School and received his Bachelor of Science in Industrial Electronics. On January 14, 1961 he married the former Alice Dirnberg and she survives. Ronald was an instructor at Terra Technical College, Fremont for 17 years retiring in 2001. He worked as a Product Trainer for Varian Associates for Linear Accelerators based in California. Ron retired from the United Stated Navy, Chief Petty Officer, in 1977, serving in Vietnam. He was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ, V.F.W. Post # 8732 both of Oak Harbor, and Disabled American Veterans Chapter 16. Survivors include his wife Alice of Oak Harbor; sons: Wayne Pierson of San Jose, CA and Douglas Pierson of Oak Harbor; daughter Sonya Pierson of Oak Harbor; sister Lucille Lieske of Oak Harbor; and grandchildren: Alyssa, Brittney, Brian, Cassandra and Dustin Lee Pierson who preceded him in death. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sisters Judy Westfere and Denise Case. Visitation will be Sunday from 2-8pm at Crosser Funeral Home, Oak Harbor. Funeral Services will be held at 11am Monday, February 22, 2010 at St. Paul United Church of Christ, Oak Harbor with the Rev. David A. Voll officiating. Burial will be in Locust Point Cemetery, Carroll Township with Military Honors being presented by Oak Harbor American Legion Post #114 and V.F.W. Post #8732.
