Ronald C. Merckens, 76, of Olathe, KS, and formerly of Marblehead-Port Clinton area died Friday, April 20, 2012 in Kansas City, MO. He was born May 2, 1935 in Marblehead, OH the son of Reynold and Lois (Pettibone) Merckens. He worked at Standard Products in Port Clinton and Dearborn, MI retiring with 39 years. He is a United States Army Veteran. As a descendant, he is a member of Elder William Brewster Society. He married Phyliss Young and she survives. Ron is survived by his loving and caring wife of 55 years Phyllis (Young) Merckens. Two children: daughter--Sheila (Don) Tappan; son: Brian (Betsy) Merckens; five grandchildren: Kayla and Cody Tappan; Jackson, Will and Maggie Merckens; brother: R. Neil Merckens, Sr.; aunt: G. Ann Pettibone; nieces and nephews: Rhonda Sower, Rita Mahler, Ruthe Toncar and Russ Merckens and their families; cousins and many wonderful friends. Visitation will be held Thursday, April 26, 2012 from 5:00 - 8:00pm at Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, Peninsula Chapel, Lakeside--Marblehead, OH. Mass of Christian Burial will be clelbrated 10:00 am Friday, April 27, 2012 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Marblehead, OH with Father Dan Ring Officiating. Burial will be in St Joseph Catholic Church Cemetery, Marblehead, OH.
