Roland H. Grotz

Roland H. Grotz, 82 of Oak Harbor, OH died unexpectedly Monday, January 28, 2019 at his home. He was born April 2, 1936 in Oregon, OH to the late Adolf and Clara (Schmidlin) Grotz. He was a graduate of Clay High School. On June 21, 1958 he married the former Betty L. Warnke and she survives. Roland was a heavy equipment operator for Columbia Gas, Toledo, OH for 33 years. He enjoyed duck hunting and eating candy. He had been to Alaska and if it were up to him, hed still be running that backhoe. Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Betty of Oak Harbor; sons: Jason Grotz of Elliston, OH, Keith Grotz of Oak Harbor, and Randy Grotz of Oak Harbor; 9 grandchildren, 13 great- grandchildren, and sister Katherine Morse. He was also preceded in death by brother William Grotz and sister Ruth Grotz. Visitation will be from 2:00-8:00 PM Friday at Crosser Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Oak Harbor, where funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, February 2, 2019. Interment will follow at Salem Township Union Cemetery, Oak Harbor. Following the services, a luncheon for family and friends will be held at the Eagles Nest, Jefferson St., Oak Harbor.
