Roland Dwayne Ballard

Roland D. Ballard, 60, of Oak Harbor died suddenly Tuesday, July 15, 2008 at his home. He was born March 24, 1948 in Fulton, Mississippi to the late Clinton Ballard and Niler (Ables) McCormick. During the Vietnam War he served in United States Marine Corps., Special Services Unit. Roland enjoyed attending support groups throughout Oak Harbor, Port Clinton, and Fremont area, where he developed long-lasting friendships. Survivors include his sons: Adam Ballard of Oak Harbor, Brian Royster of Port Clinton; brother: Howard (Sandra) Ballard of Oak Harbor; sisters: Linda Nix of Port Clinton, Cindy (Ross) Aldridge and Joyce (Richard) Gates both of Oak Harbor, Peggy (Rex) Montgomery of Curtice, OH, Nina (Roger) Aldridge of Gibsonburg, OH, and Marsha (Ken) Millwood of Huston, AL; granddaughters: Hali Ballard, Ashley, Riley, and Emily Royster; Step- Father James McCormick of Port Clinton; 14 nieces and nephews; and 16 great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Stephanie Ballard and brother Prestel Nix. Visitation will be Friday, July 18, 2008 from 3-7pm at the Crosser Funeral Home, Oak Harbor. Services will begin at 7pm at the Funeral Home with Pastor Steve Fish officiating. Roland's wishes were to have military services with a burial at sea. This will be done at a later date.
