Roger Walter Damschroder

Roger Walter Damschroder, 81 of Oak Harbor, OH died Friday, January 26, 2018 at Riverview Health Care Campus, Oak Harbor. He was born November 25, 1936 in Bowling Green, OH to the late Walter and Thelma (Burkmeyer) Damschroder. He was a 1954 graduate of Pemberville High School. He served in the United States Navy Reserves from 1955 - 1963. On May 11, he married the former Janet Morse and she survives. Roger was a self- employed floor installer and charter fishing guide on Lake Erie. He was a member of the Oak Harbor United Methodist Church and the Ohio Carpenter's Union. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, and could be seen sitting in his favorite wicker chair on his front porch visiting with neighbors and passers by all summer long. Survivors include his wife of 60 years Janet of Oak Harbor; children: Cynthia (Richard) Campo of Satsuma, FL, Linda (Ed) Ellis of Oregon, OH, Norman (Margaret) Damschroder of Maumee, OH, and Amy (William) Hanney of Oak Harbor; 8 grandchildren, and 4 great- grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son Roger William Damschroder. Services will begin at 11am Thursday, February 1, 2018 at Oak Harbor United Methodist Church, 360 E. Ottawa Street, Oak Harbor,with the family to receive friends at the Church beginning at 9am. Burial will be in Salem Twp. Union Cemetery, Oak Harbor. Memorial Contributions may be given to Habitat for Humanity of Ottawa County, Ohio Living Hospice, or Oak Harbor United Methodist Church.
