Roger H. Freimark

Roger H. Freimark, 94, of Oak Harbor, Ohio, passed away Thursday, October 25, 2018 at Magruder Hospital, Port Clinton, Ohio. He was born near Graytown, Ohio on June 17, 1924, to the late Lawrence H. & Ida M. (Schanke) Freimark. Roger attended Salem-Oak Harbor Schools, and then served his country in the United States Army from 1943 to 1945. A member of the 39th Infantry Regiment, 9th Infantry Division, Roger landed on Utah Beach in Normandy, France on D-Day. After his discharge from the Army, he worked as a carpenter in the Genoa area, and then worked for over 30 years at the former Brush Wellman Company (now Materion), near Elmore, Ohio, from where he retired. Roger was an active member of American Legion Post #114, and St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, both of Oak Harbor. On January 28, 1950, Roger married the former Audrey J. Lickert, and she preceded him in death on March 18, 2017 after 67 years of marriage. He is survived by his sons, Dale (Carol) Freimark and Gary M. Freimark, both of Oak Harbor; and grandsons, Chad, Craig, and Aaron Freimark. He was preceded in death by his son, James P. Freimark and sister, Norma Schell. Friends may call from 9-11 AM Monday, October 29, 2018 at Crosser Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 301 N. Locust St., Oak Harbor, where funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday. Rev. Philip Scherr will officiate, and Interment will follow at Elliston Cemetery, Elliston, Ohio with graveside rites by American Legion Post #114 and V.F.W. Post #8732.
