Robert W. Jones, Sr.

Robert William Jones, Sr passed away on August 7, 2019 at the age of 96. Bob came home from the war to marry his lifelong sweetheart, Betty Jones. He missed her every minute of every day for the past ten years. They had four children: Susan, deceased (married to French Ball), Judy (married to John Wiens, deceased), Sally (married to Tim McFadden), and Bob, Jr (married to Sandy). There are 8 grandchildren: Jennifer, Geoff, Gwydion (married to Amanda), Bronwyn, Corrie Anne (married to Jason), Caleb (married to Rebecca), Bobby III, and Charlie. And 6 Great-grandchildren. Bob had 4 older sisters (all deceased) and numerous nieces and nephews. Whether he was Bob, Dad, Grandpa, Uncle Bob, or Great-Grandpa, he was much loved and will be missed. He was well known for spreading happiness, always greeting those he encountered with a smile and cheerful comment. Bob fought with the 99th Infantry Division in WW2 and was a POW in Germany. He was a teacher and high school principal at Brooklyn High School in Ohio. His retirement job was managing the shuffleboard courts at Lakeside, Ohio. He and Betty were among the first residents of the patio homes at Northshore Otterbein Senior Community. He was active in that community, visiting his friends and making coffee every morning for the mens coffee club. Memorial donations can be made to the Lakeside Ohio Chautauqua Shuffleboard Club or Otterbein Senior Life, Marblehead.
