Robert Michael "Mike" Netz

Robert Michael “Mike” Netz, 68 of Elmore, OH died Tuesday, May 23, 2023 at Mercy- St. Charles Hospital following a short illness. He was born December 4, 1954 in Toledo, OH to Robert M. and Patricia R. (Nagel) Netz. Mike was a 1973 graduate of Woodmore High School and received his Bachelor of Science in Agriculture/Horticulture in 1978 from The Ohio State University. He spent his career in agriculture as an Agronomist/ Crop Consultant retiring in 2021 from W & A Crop Solutions, formerly Widmer & Associates. He was a baptized member of St. John’s United Church of Christ, Elmore. On November 24, 1987 he married the former Laurie E. (Hayes) and she survives.

Mike was a member of the Sandusky County Sportsmen’s Club, former member of the Elmore Lions Club, served a term as Councilman for the Village of Elmore, sang with the Swiss Singers, and taught gun safety to many young hunters. He enjoyed keeping the yard and gardens in beautiful condition and grew many varieties of tomatoes that he shared with friends. He also enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing, archery and just being in nature.

Survivors include his wife Laurie of Elmore; mother Patricia Netz of Oregon, OH; sister Nancy (Ted) Nagel-Haenlein of King George, VA; brother Thomas Netz of Woodville, OH; several nieces and nephews and faithful canine companion Zoe. He was preceded in death by his father.

A Celebration of Mike’s Life will be held Thursday, June 22, 2023 from 5 – 8pm at Schedel Arboretum & Gardens, 19255 W. Portage River South Road, Elmore, OH 43416 with a Service to begin at 6pm. Burial will be handled privately by the family in Fort Meigs Cemetery, Perrysburg, OH. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Schedel Arboretum & Gardens or a charity of the donor’s choice.
