Robert J. Szczesny

Robert J. Szczesny, 77, known to friends as "Shoes", passed away at North Shore Jane Baker House in Marblehead, Ohio. From his birth in Cleveland, on April 24, 1935 to his death on Sunday, April 29, 2012, he nourished people around him with love and laughter. He was born at home in Cleveland as the only child to Jacob and Josephine (Gmurczyk) Szczesny. Bob was a graduate of Cathedral Latin High School in Cleveland and served with the U.S. Navy from 1953-57. He was a life member of American Legion Post 611 and a business owner of Edwind Shoes in Cuyahoga Falls and Hudson. He retired from Joanne Fabrics in 1999 and became a permanent resident at Lakeside-Marblehead, Ohio. Bob truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures; fishing, chatting with friends and family, eating fresh pastries and living independently. Bob was a devout member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and is survived by his daughters, Monica (Matt) Mace, Kathy (Pat) Szczesny, and Patrice Wood; two grandsons; Zachary Mace and Brice Wood, and many cousins. Visitation hours are Friday, 2 to 5 p.m. at NEIDECKER, LEVECK & CROSSER FUNERAL HOME, PENINSULA CHAPEL, 7755 E. Harbor Rd. Lakeside-Marblehead. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Dan Ring on Saturday, 9:00 a.m., at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 822 Barclay St., Lakeside Marblehead. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. The Szczesny family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at the North Shore Jane Baker House and Memorial Hospice for their attentiveness and loving care.
