Robert John "Bob" McNamee, 85, of Lakeside, Ohio died Thursday, December 4, 2008 at Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky, Ohio. He was born on November 13, 1923, in Newark, Ohio, the son of the late John Wesley and Gladys Louise (Showman) McNamee. He was formerly married to Mary (McCord) and she preceded him in death in March 1975.He then married Dorothy "Molly" (Curry) on July 29, 1975 and she survives. He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served his country during World War II. During the war, he was an artillery mechanic and fought in the battle of Ardennes where he earned 4 Bronze Stars and the Good Conduct Medal. After being honorably discharged from the Army, he was self-employed as a flooring engineer in Columbus and Central Ohio. In 1988 he bought a house in Lakeside where he and his wife Molly resided until they moved to Otterbein North Shore Retirement Community in April 2002. While living in Lakeside, Bob was the manager of the Lakeside Shuffleboard Courts for 11 years from 1990-2001. He was a member of the Lakeside United Methodist Church, where he was active in the Lakeside United Methodist Men's Group, as well as a member of the VFW and American Legion. His hobbies included model airplane building/flying; camping; shuffleboard; traveling; and country music. He was known as "Mr. Fix It" as he could fix anything. Survivors include his wife Molly, daughter: Mariann Wells, Newark, OH; sons: Robert Wesley (Sandy) McNamee, South Boston, VA and Patrick (Kathy) McNamee, Columbus, OH; step daughters: Anne Mitchell, Sarasota, FL; Linda Taylor, Santa Cruz, CA; Susan (Hugh) Nicholson, Tallahasee, FL; step son: Tim Taylor, Westerville, OH; fifteen grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a sister: Janice (Charles) McGee, Paris, KY. Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 20, 2008 from 10-11 AM at the Lakeside United Methodist Church, 450 Central Ave, Lakeside, OH where memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM with Reverend Jerry Phelps officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Lakeside United Methodist Church, Otterbein North Shore Retirement Development Fund or to Stein Hospice.
